ARIES computer section (CS) has been involved in various IT initiatives related to the ongoing and upcoming scientific and engineering projects. The major roles being played by the section in these projects are in the development of Web applications & software interfaces, their implementation & post implementation supports, and their IT resource management. CS is also handling the change and upgradation management of the existing application software(s) deployed under various R&D facilities of the institute.

In the light of above, the following manpower purely on Contractual & fixed-tenure basis is needed:

1. PROJECT TRAINEES/ PROJECT ASSISTANT – 03 posts (for 6 months duration)

Project Trainees/Project Assistant will mainly be engaged in software development – both front-end & back-end application software design & development.

2. PROJECT ASSOCIATES–04 posts (initially for 1 year duration)

The Project Associates will mainly be working in the following key areas:

• 02 Project Associates will be involved in the Scientific data analysis & Software development (front-end/back-end) aspects of Data Archival Project.They will be providing necessary support in building data repository, archives, and data homogenization & dissemination during implementation and post implementation stages.
• 01 Project Associate will be working towards streamlining the network and IT resources at ARIES Manora and Devasthal campuses, including the cyber security, data management, and other peculiar requirements that arises time-to-time.
• 01 Project Associate will mainly be involved in the web application design and development works,information retrieval and visualization, etc.

Project Trainees/ Project Assistant:

Essential Qualifications: Under-graduate (5th or higher Semester) B.E./B.Tech/BCA students from Computer Engineering/ Computer Science/ Computer Application/ Computer Technology/ Information Technology background from a recognized Institution/University.

OR

B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc (Computer Engineering/ Computer Science/ Computer Application/ Computer Technology/ Information Technology) holder  from a recognized Institution/University.

OR

Pursuing Master’s degree in Computer /IT domain from the recognized University/ Institution.

Preferable Experience/Knowledge (in one or more areas):

• Working knowledge of Linux OS
• Working knowledge on Python Django
• Familiarity with the databases like MySQL and/or PostgreSQL
• Website design using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap.
• Knowledge of PHP framework like CodeIgniter
• Knowledge of Flectra
• Knowledge of image editing using Adobe CC, Photoshop, CorelDraw, etc.

Upper age limit: 30 years

Project Associates

Essential Qualifications: M.Sc./MS (Physics/Astronomy/equivalent), Integrated M.Sc. (Physics/Astronomy) from a recognized Institution/University.

OR

B.E. or B.Tech (Computer Engineering/ Computer Science/Computer Technology/ Information Technology)/ Master’s in Computer Application (MCA) from a recognized Institution/University

Must have experience in Python Programming and Linux OS

Preferable Experience in one or more areas as mentioned below:

• Python Django Development skills
• Familiarity with the databases like MySQL and/or PostgreSQL.
• Hands-on experience in the Drupal based Content Management System (CMS).
• Maintenance and administration of websites.
• Server hardware/ operating systems, networks, firewalls, VPN, etc.
• Operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of Linux and Windows Servers/ Workstations.
• Knowledge of Flectra.
• Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)/High Performance Computing (HPC)/AWS and Cloud Servers.
• Experience in handling Astronomy data.

Upper age limit: 35 years

Monthly emolument& Service:

The monthly remuneration will be commensurate with the qualifications & experience, and followed as per the Institute’s norms & as per the DST norms, as applicable.

• Project Trainee/ Project Assistant: For Under-Graduate candidates, the monthly emolument will be Rs. 10,000 (consolidated); for passed-out candidates, the monthly emolument will be Rs. 20,000 + HRA.
• Project Associates: Based on the work experience in the relevant field and the performance during the interview, the candidate may be offered Project Associate-I or Project Associate-II positions. Monthly emolument for Project Associate-I will be Rs. 25,000 + HRA, and for Project Associate-II will be Rs. 28,000 + HRA. 

Service conditions shall be governed as per the Institute’s norm & DST guidelines, as amended from time to time.

Terms and Conditions:

1. Tenure: Initially for the period of One (01) year for Project Associates and Six (06) months for Project Trainee/Project Assistant.
2. The performance of the candidates selected against all the above-mentioned positions will be reviewed at regular intervals (3/6/9 months etc.) and based on the performance as per the project mandate, further extension (if applicable) may be provided.
3. Joining: The selected candidates are expected to join within fifteen (15) days from the date of receiving offer of appointment.
4. Termination: Director, ARIES reserves the right to terminate the engagement/contract at any stage in case of impropriety, misconduct, breach of conditions, irregular attendance, or poor quality of performance.
5. Posting: The selected candidate will be posted at the Devasthal/Nainital/Haldwani campuses of ARIES depending on the requirement.
6. The positions are purely temporary on contract basis and do not entitle any privileges or benefits of regular employment to the selected candidates. No claim whatsoever for regular employment at ARIES shall be entertained.
7. ARIES reserves the right to cancel the advertisements, positions and the recruitment process at any time and is not liable for assigning any reasons whatsoever.
8. The prescribed qualifications are minimum requirements and mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be appointed.
9. Canvassing in any form, misrepresentation or falsification of facts or instances of misconduct/misbehavior at any stage during selection process shall result in disqualification of the candidate without any notice and no correspondence in this regard shall be entertained.
10. All other Terms & conditions shall be governed as per the Institute and/or DST norms, as applicable.
