Abstract

We have performed a detailed analysis of open cluster Cz3 by using deep NIR photometry along with the recently
available high quality PM data from Gaia DR2. We have found that this cluster is elongated with peak density of 33
stars/arcmin 2 . The core and cluster radius of this cluster is calculated as 0.32 arcsec and 1.25 arcmin, respectively.
We have assigned 44 stars as a cluster members by using Gaia PM data. The distance and age of this cluster is
found to be 4.8 ± 0.2 kpc and 16 Myrs, respectively. We have derived the mass function slope ‘Γ ′ in the core region
of this cluster in the mass range ∼ 0.9 <M/M ⊙ < 4.5 as −1.26 ± 0.56, which is similar to the value ‘-1.35’ given
by Salpeter (1955). The cluster is showing signature of mass-segregation and the nearest-neighbor distances of the
cluster member stars are showing peak in their distribution at 0.1 pc which is larger than the stars found in young
star forming regions indicating a role of dynamical relaxation in this cluster. We also report identification of two δ
Scuti????? type short-time periodic variable stars in the central region of Cz3 cluster having mass ∼1 M ⊙ and periods of 1.2 hrs and 5.6 hrs.
