Abstract

Magnetic Cataclysmic Variables (MCVs) are binaries in which a primary magnetized white dwarf (WD) accretes material from Roche lobe-filling red dwarf companion. Two major classes of magnetic CVs are Polars and Intermediate Polars. Due to their interacting nature, magnetic CVs emit the radiation in all wavelengths from hard X-rays to radio. In last few years, we have done the detailed multi-wavelength study of MCVs in order to understand the accretion flow at their different evolutionary states. A sample of candidate MCVs was also studied to classify them into their proper class. Various efforts were made which shed light on many aspects of MCVs, while we found some new ideas to explore further, and we want to continue in those directions. Among them, optical photometric and spectroscopic data of a ROSAT-discovered candidate RBS 490 show a persistent period of 1.68±0.01 hr and polar like spectrum. To confirm the exact subclass of this MCV, we would like to pursue more photometric and radial velocity measurements of this system using 1-m class telescopes of ARIES and Hanley Faint Object Spectrograph (HFOSC) instrument in up-coming cycles. I will also present a detailed result of an asynchronous polar CD Ind which we are doing currently.
