Stars are inevitable offsprings of self-gravity of interstellar matter once it becomes
comparable to the disruptive forces due to magnetic fields, thermal pressure. In magnetic
mediated theory of star formation, the gravitational collpase of clouds is believed to take
place through “ambipolar diffusion”. I will discuss the role of Ambipolar Diffusion in star
formation and how it can explain the possible time scale of dynamical collapse.
