Aryabhatta Research Institute of observational sciencES (ARIES) invites Online- application for the post of Senior Project Associate (Engineering).

Background:

Aditya-L1 mission is India's first dedicated spacecraft mission to study the Sun. It will enable a comprehensive understanding of the dynamical processes of the Sun and address some of the outstanding problems in solar physics and heliophysics. As a joint effort of ISRO and ARIES, the Aditya-L1 Support Cell (AL1SC) has been set up in ARIES to act as a community service centre for the guest observers in preparing science observing proposals and analysing science data. AL1SC works in close coordinaion with ISRO.

 

Objectives of the position:

Under the supervision of PI and Co-PI of AL1SC, Senior Project Associate will Implement novel data analysis tools including backend and fronted development of webpage, database, and web applications (GUI etc).
  • Work synergistically with computer and scientific team of AL1SC for the development and implementation of web applications and tools on the AL1SC webpage.
  • Software operations, maintenance and development for evolution of the system and tools from proposal to dissemination with Indian Space Sciences Data (ISSDC),Bengaluru. ISSDC/ISTRAC is the nodal agency of ISRO to host the proposal system, dataproducts archives and data dissemination services for the users.
  • Support AL1SC team activities including including workshops, sciences and training activities organised by AL1SC.

 

Terms and Conditions:

  • Qualification:
    1. Doctoral Degree in Engineering/Technology from a recognised university or equivalent. Degree should be awarded to the candidate.                                                                                                                               OR                                                                                                                                            
    2. Master’s degree in computer science or MCA or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognised University or equivalent and four years’ experience. Degree should be awarded to the candidate.
  • Skill Set:
    1. Must have experience in using Python Django development.
    2. MySQL/PostgreSQL Database, SQL programming
    3. Content Management System
    4. Setup Python virtual environment & install packages as per the requirement
    5. Website design using HTML, CSS, Javascript, bootstrap
    6. Knowledge of Java Enterprise technologies; specifically, JSF (Java Server Faccs) and JPA (Java Persistence API)
    7. Basic Knowledge of  Application server, e.g. Glassfish, Payara etc. Knowledge of Linux system administration and shell scripting.
  • Tenure:Initially for the period of One (01) year with an option to extend subject to the satisfying performance
  • Monthly Emolument: Rs. 42000 + HRA.
  • Upper Age Limit:40 years
  • Recruitment and Posting :The selected candidate will be recruited by ARIES under AL1SC and to be posted at Indian Space Science Data Centre (ISDDC), ISRO Telemetry, Tracking and Command Centre, Bengaluru. The Candidate will be required to commute ARIES office locations (Haldwani or Manora Peak, Nainital) depending upon the requirement and nature of the work.
