Aryabhatta Research Institute of observational sciencES (ARIES) invites Online-application for a Project Associate – I/II position purely on contractual basis. The selected candidate will participate in the installation and commissioning of the spectro-polarimetry mode of ADFOSC for the 3.6m Devasthal Optical Telescope (DOT), and develop a data reduction pipeline. The candidate will perform observations and will work on analysis and interpretation of data obtained from 3.6m DOT. The candidate will also be involved with other instrument related activity.

Qualifications and skill-sets:

Essential qualification: Master degree in Physics/Astronomy/Astrophysics from a recognized Institution/University with valid NET/GATE/JEST score at the time of application.

Desirable: At least one year of research experience after M.Sc. related to the astronomical spectroscopy/spectro-polarimetery

Candidates will be required to report at 09.30 am on the Interview Date for verification of original certificates and only eligible candidates will be allowed to appear for the Interview.

Terms and Conditions:

1. Tenure: For the period of One (01) year
2. Monthly Emolument: Rs. 31,000 + HRA for Project Associate -I or Rs. 35,000 + HRA for Project Associate –II as per the Central Government norms.
3. Upper Age Limit: 35 years
4. Last date for apply online: 28th February 2024 till 9.30 AM.
5. Termination: Director, ARIES reserves the right to terminate the engagement/contract at any stage in case of impropriety, misconduct, breach of conditions, irregular attendance, or poor quality of performance.
6. Posting: The selected candidate will be posted at ARIES office locations.
