The successful observations of near-IR interferometry by the European Southern Observatory opened a new era of high-resolution astronomy in the optical/near-IR. This talk will introduce how to perform high-precision measurement of black hole masses, cosmological distances, the history of the expanding universe, and nano-Hz gravitational waves from supermassive binary black holes in the era of optical/near-IR interferometry.
Prof. Jian-Min Wang is a professor in astrophysics at the Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China. He has obtained his Ph.D. degree in 1995 from the USTC, Hefei, Anhui, CN. He is an expert in the field of AGN and black hole physics. This seminar is a part of the activities commemorating "75 years of India's Independence: Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav" at ARIES.
