Abstract
A black hole cannot be seen since it emits no light. However, matter accreting onto a black hole may be `seen'. Since a black hole also `eats' and diverts a fraction of light emitted by the matter very close to it, so it casts a shadow. We discuss the basic physics of black hole shadow. Then we discuss about the happy coincidence that ensured an image can be taken. Then we very briefly discuss the numerical simulation code and result which enabled to confirm the observation. Finally few caveats.
