Abstract

In this work, we analysed light curve data of HD 73045, HD 73135 and BD+19 2045. The raw
data has been taken using standard filters. The aim was to extract star’s magnitude and time
during which it undergoes variation. The final task was to get light curves (differential
magnitude vs time) so that we can detect and find the type of variability in the particular star.
All the tasks require cleaning of raw images. This was done using "Image Reduction and
Analysis facility (IRAF)". FWHM for all '.fits' images were calculated using display software
ds9. Further, to extract instrumental magnitudes, Aperture and Differential Photometry were
performed using Daophot. The coding was done in Python and C for choosing the appropriate
aperture at which the magnitude approaches a constant value and the light curves were
plotted. The Power spectrum was obtained using Fourier transform analysis. It showed
presence of more than one period. The presence of periodicity in time series was analysed by
plotting phase series light curves. Under this project, we didn’t find any promising results
except in one of the stars HD 73045. We have found clear evidence of photometric variability
in Am star HD 73045, which is likely to be pulsating with a period of about 2 hours
(observation period - 6 hours) and with a period of 0.72 hours (observation period - 2 hours).
