In this talk, I will highlight basic techniques of X-ray observations used in present era observatory like XMM-Newton and Chandra. Both telescopes provide the low as well as high resolution spectroscopy and photometry. Towards the end of talk I would like to summarize the important results obtained by these telescopes.
