Abstract

On the basis of the physical principles, we now seem to understand why the universe looks like the way it is observed today. While we have
had significant success in our broad understanding of how the universe evolved from its earlier stages to its present form, and why it looks the
way it does today, several unresolved issues remain. While some of these have to do with the details of how physical processes unfold as
the universe evolves, there are certain issues which threaten to shake some fundamental aspects of physics like the nature of gravity itself. In
this talk, I will run through the evolution of the universe from its early stages till today, highlighting both our successes as well as our lack of
understanding of the universe at different stages of its evolution.
