The study of pulsating stars has a long and proud tradition in South Africa. The current research environment in this field in South Africa will be reviewed. In recent years, South African researchers have joined the asteroseismology consortium studying data from the Kepler space telescope. One prominent project, the study of oscillating eclipsing Algols using Kepler data, will also be reviewed.
